Origin/History

Released in 2002 and developed by the USDA, Newport was is the descendant of Magnum and a USDA male variety.
Newport was developed to help combat the issue of poor mildew resistance.

Agronomics

The attempts to introduce mildew resistance was a success as Newport is resistant to both powdery mildew and downy mildew.
It has a mid to late season maturity.
