Grower Assistance

Charles Faram has always had a great relationship with growers around the world. Our team are constantly;

  • Liaising with growers on best times to pick their hops
  • Facilitating and hosting grower meetings
  • Working with growers with any issues, from sourcing none plastic clips for bales, helping with storage of bales, to helping arrange transport of bales
  • Providing training opportunities

We send out a procedure document to all growers explaining how we require our hop samples to be presented – QA 213

We also facilitate and host industry hop competitions including The Wellhopped World Series and the British Hop Awards

Hop Development

Innovation

The Charles Faram Hop Development Program and other programs that we support encompasses the importance that we hold on being able to help brewers create great beer means that our hops have to inspire and bring something new to the brewer and be viable to the grower.

Expertise

The aim of our Hop Development Program has been to find agronomically sound, exciting new varieties that will one day be produced commercially with the help of our own expertise and solid grower relationships.

Cold Chain

Our US and New Zealand hops are 100% cold from the day they are picked up from the farm.

The Charles Faram Yakima facility has proved to be a very useful staging point for the quality checks and safe carriage of US hops to the UK. With refrigerated containers continuing to bring hops across the Atlantic it really is a complete cold chain.

Packaging

Our boxes are made from 100% recycled material and are recyclable.

Work is taking place in to further improving our three layer packaging.
As the outer layer is aluminium, plastic is currently required to prevent contact with the product.
We hope to have a solution shortly.

The specification for our foils is to bar moisture, oxygen, and light while retaining the strength.

Our stretch wrap can be recycled

Storage

Faram’s have invested heavily in their facilities in both the UK and the USA to ensure the best quality hops are received by their customers.

To ensure the hops stay in the best condition we have a cold store at the Worcestershire site which stores the hops at 0°c.

The facility is up there with the best cold stores in the world for storing hops.” The 1,860m² (20,000ft²) store is capable of storing an additional 1,700 pallets. The hops are being held for customers to draw on as required.

Transport

Our transport partners are regularly reviewed to ensure the best service and rates available.

One-stop-shop

We work closely with partners to provide a one-stop-shop that provides ease and value to our brewing customers.

The website reflects the differing supply agreements that we have across countries.

Review

We listen to customers and our team members, so if a product is not performing, we will remove it from our offering and where possible look for a more effective substitute.

We also review suggestions of possible product additions from our customers and team.  Where the agreement is viable for all partners,  we are keen to expand our range.

Expertise

We are not exclusive in our provision of technical expertise for non-hop products.  If you buy any product from us, you are entitled to free technical advise from our advisors and also from the supplier partner advisors.
